Southeast Community College’s
2015-2016 softball team is being recognized for its academic team honors by the
National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Out of 32 junior college teams, SCC ranked
14th with a combined grade-point average of 3.374. In addition, nine
SCC softball players had GPAs of 3.5 or higher.
“Storm softball strives for
excellence in the classroom and on the field,” said head coach Bob Ginsburg.
“Team members work hard for their grades and work together for the team to
achieve those heights.”
The rankings and honors
recognize the academic excellence of softball teams across seven membership
divisions; NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Junior
College, High School (unweighted) and High School (weighted).
Last spring, the Storm earned
their first-ever regional title, defeating Central Community College and North
Platte Community College. It’s Ginsburg’s fourth year coaching the Storm. He’s
looking forward to this season.
“This team is not just
learning from wins and losses on the field,” he said. “They dedicate themselves
in the classroom as they prepare for success when transferring to four-year
colleges, and as they prepare themselves for their futures.”
The following Storm softball players
had a GPA of 3.5 or higher:
Brooke Brestel, Lincoln
Savannah Grabowski, Beatrice
