Children at the Southeast
Community College Child Development Center are getting into the holiday spirit
by taking part in the Great Lincoln Egg Hunt. Around 30 of the children created
colorful pictures of Easter eggs and displayed them in windows of the center,
located at the College’s Lincoln Campus, 8800 O St.
“In the community, businesses
and homes are coloring and decorating eggs and hanging them in a visible spot for
children and families to go on an ‘egg hunt’ while driving around,” said Kari
Schell, director of the of SCC Child Development Center.
Organizers of this event
started it to keep children busy, who are home from school during the COVID-19 outbreak.
There is a link on Facebook that provides the public with locations of businesses
and citizens who are participating in the Great Lincoln Egg Hunt. Participants
can also take pictures of their eggs. https://www.facebook.com/groups/642609422973440/
SCC families also are invited
to join the SCC Child Development Center and color spring pictures or
inspirational messages to local medical and senior care facilities, since many
of these residents are unable to have visitors at this time.
Simply color a picture, save
it as a PDF and email the image to SCCcommunityaction@southeast.edu. Pictures will be emailed to Madonna Rehabilitation
Hospital, Tabitha and Immanuel Senior Living Communities to share with
residents.
