Saving its best golf for the final round, the Southeast Community College men’s golf team shot 292 to finish eighth overall at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Tournament at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.
Zach Taylor, a sophomore from Omaha Burke, finished in a tie for 24th place, earning him Honorable Mention All-American honors. Taylor was in the 70s all four rounds and finished with a 16-over-par 304.
Chad Manes, a freshman from Beatrice, and Austin Miller, a sophomore from Sidney, finished tied for 51st place, each shooting a four-day total of 313. Liam Chambers, a sophomore from Scotland, struggled his first two rounds but finished with a 77 and 73 for a 315 and a tie for 58th place. John Thomas, a sophomore from Millard North High School, rounded out SCC with a four-day total 322, which tied him for 80th place.
Walters State Community College of Tennessee won the event with a four-day total of 1,189, 11 strokes ahead of second-place Mesa (Ariz.) Community College. SCC shot 1,228.
