Seven Southeast Community
College students were honored for their academics, leadership and service.
The Phi Theta Kappa
All-Nebraska Academic Team honors took place April 23, 2019, at Embassy Suites
in downtown Lincoln. All six of Nebraska’s community colleges participate in
PTK activities.
SCC students honored were Addison
Schramm, Omaha; Todd Cerny, Bennington; David Strang, Lincoln; Jessica Power, North
Platte; Rachel Holder, Ashland; Kyle Monti, Lincoln; and Michael Shy,
Coffeyville, Kansas.
“We have the opportunity to
celebrate student success,” said Southeast Community College President, Dr. Paul
Illich. “Phi Theta Kappa recognizes and celebrates academic integrity.”
Addison Schramm is a second-year
student at SCC’s Beatrice Campus. The Omaha native came to SCC for volleyball
and is planning to obtain her associate degree in nursing, then transfer to
another college to become a registered nurse. She said the PTK scholarship will
help her achieve her goals.
“I was super excited, all my hard work that I have been stressing about has really
paid off,” she said. “SCC really helped me not only be a better student, but be
a more well-rounded person.”
In order to qualify, students must have a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average and be a
member of PTK.
