If you’ve always dreamed of
traveling to Italy, now is your chance. Southeast Community College’s Global
Education program is sponsoring a trip to the Southern European country June 13-22.
“The upcoming trip to Italy
will be a great way for new and experienced travelers alike to see some of
Western history’s defining locations and enjoy the arts, food, culture, and
fashion of Italy,” said Emily Suh, an instructor and coordinator of the trip.
The excursion will take place
over 10 days in Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento, Capri, and Pisa. Some of the
sights include the Vatican, the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine
Chapel, the island of Capri, and so much more.
The cost for the trip is $3,940
per person and includes airfare, eight nights in hotels, daily breakfast and
dinner, and sightseeing tours. Anyone can register for the trip. However, they
are required to register for Global Studies (GLST 2970/2980) during SCC’s
The Global Studies program
has traveled to Peru, Guatemala, Haiti, and Kenya since its inception. This
will be the first time to Italy. The program was introduced so students can
have the opportunity to explore the world and cultures around them.
“Travel expands your view of
the world, and traveling through study abroad helps you to make sense of your
place in the world,” Suh said.
Registration for the Global
Studies class begins Jan. 30. The deadline to register for the trip is Feb. 28.
