Hofman leads storm to top-10 national finish, earns first-team All-America honor.
Noah Hofman earned first-team All-America honors and led the Southeast Community College golf team to a top-10 finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Tournament in Mesa, Arizona.
Hofman, a freshman from McCook, shot 74-69-69-74-286 to finish second among individuals, earning him a spot on the All-America first team. Hofman’s 2-over-par finish on the 7,050-yard, par-71 Longbow Golf Club put him just four strokes behind the top player.
Southeast shot 313-289-298-307-1207 to finish in a tie for eighth place. The Storm’s second-day 289 was the best team score posted for that round. SCC’s Domenic Vertuli finished in a tie for 21st place with a 297. Kyle Murray from Beatrice and Kean Kontor from Lincoln both tied for 74th place, while Tyler Wagner of Beatrice finished in a tie for 92nd place. Wagner had one of the highlights of the tournament for the Storm when he eagled the par-5 No. 18 during Thursday’s third round.
During the tournament, Vertuli was fourth among individuals with 49 pars, while Hofman was fourth in the number of birdies for the tournament with 13.
