Megan Hartman, Alexis Graewe and Kristin Thomas, freshmen on the
2015 Southeast Community College softball team, earned spots on the
All-Region IX Team announced this spring.
The Storm also won the Sheila Worley Sportsmanship Award
presented by the region.
Hartman, a pitcher/outfielder/first baseman from Lincoln
Southwest High School, led the Storm in a number of statistical
categories, including batting average (.385), slugging percentage
(.609), at-bats (161), hits (62), doubles (18), and home runs (6).
She also excelled as a pitcher, posting a 9-14 overall record with
18 complete games and 148.2 innings pitched. She gave up 148 hits,
157 runs (123 earned), and 99 walks while striking out 193 batters.
Her earned-run average of 5.79 led SCC.
Graewe, a second baseman/shortstop from Lincoln High School, led
the Storm with 39 runs scored, 36 runs batted in and 18 stolen
bases. She was third on the team in batting average (.269).
Thomas, a freshman catcher/outfielder from Blue Springs (Wymore
Southern High School), played in all 50 games for the Storm and was
second on the team in at-bats (153), and home runs (5).
SCC finished the season with a 15-35 overall record, a marked
improvement from its 3-37 record in 2014. Also, the 15 victories
broke the school record of 13 set in 2011.
