Beginning Highland Bagpipes
This course is for the beginning student. Students will learn proper fingering for all notes of the bagpipe scale along with basic ornamentation. This is a round-table hands-on class.

Knowledge of basic music notation is helpful. All instructional material will be provided. Don’t have a practice chanter? No problem. They are readily available from online retailers starting at $60 (less expensive canters do not work well).

NEW! Intermediate Bagpipes
This class is a continuation of Beginning Bagpipes, and students do not need to have taken Beginning Bagpipes to enroll. If a student is already knowledgeable with basic bagpipe music notation and is able to accurately play the bagpipe scale with G grace noting, they can step right in. This is a roundtable, hands-on class.

The students will need their own practice chanter.

NEW! Piano First Steps
Do you want to learn how to play the piano but aren’t sure how to start? Take your first steps in this “very beginner” class. Get a chance to sample two different pianos and a small 61-key “starter” electric keyboard. Learn the best posture and use of hands for playing comfortably. Try out a variety of simple ways to play for enjoyment without reading notes!

What About My Left Hand?
Prerequisites: Ability to ready simple right-hand treble clef melody, some piano experience is helpful, and access to piano or large keyboard for home practice.
Would you love to play your favorite music from Lead Sheets or Fakebooks, where you read the melody only, then fill in the left-hand part with chords? We’ll use a familiar folk tune in Lead Sheet format to build a toolkit of basic chord arrangements for left hand, plus some simple ways to dress up right-hand melodies.

Native American Style Flute
Class will begin with a brief history of the Native American-style flute and continue with a demonstration of how the flute works. You will learn how to correctly hold your flute, the importance of breath control and how to use finger holes. Using written music also will be discussed.

This is a hands-on class that will include practice and use of flute in class. Anyone can succeed at this fun hobby. Tuition includes instruction, five-hole red cedar flute with bag, instruction book and CD. No prior knowledge of music is needed.
