Southeast Community College Student Veterans Organization was recognized as an official student organization at SCC beginning on February 25, 2013. The SCC Student Veterans Organization is a network emphasizing Veteran Affairs. The goal is to provide an opportunity and support to all veterans, active duty members, retirees, reserve, guard, spouses and dependents attending SCC with the right tools to further their educational needs. The main objective of the organization is to help veterans and their families overcome challenges and barriers of transitioning from combat to the classroom.
The Student Veteran Organization participates and hosts a variety of internal and external activities and events from peer support groups, tutors, scholarships, fundraising and workshops. The organization established an executive body consisting of president, vice-president, secretary and advisors. The organization meets on the second Tuesday of every month from 12-1 p.m. and also on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 2-3 p.m. in the Veterans Connect Center, room U3.
