The 1098-T is an informational form outlining qualifying third-party payments or scholarships made to the college on a student’s account for a specific calendar year. If you receive a 1098-T form, you should contact a tax professional or refer to the IRS website about education related tax benefits or implications before filing your taxes. As defined by the IRS, a qualifying payment includes balances paid towards the cost of tuition, fees and course material required for enrollment.
If you agreed to receive your 1098-T form electronically, it will be available in the Web Info System after Jan. 31st. Physical copies will be mailed via USPS by Jan. 31st if you opted out of receiving an electronic copy.
Southeast Community College contracts with ECSI to prepare 1098-T forms. You may visit the ESCI website for your electronic 1098-T form, or if no electronic constant has been provided to ECSI a paper form will be mailed to you.
