Paramedic (AAS) Steps to Admission
Are you new to SCC and/or do not have placement test scores or have not completed college level English or math courses?
Start with Health Sciences, the on ramp. You enroll, an advisor maps your path, and you complete the placement levels and prerequisite courses below. Then apply to the Paramedic program when you’re ready
Have you met the English and math requirements?
You will apply to the Paramedic (AAS) program once you are a State of Nebraska licensed paramedic or currently hold a valid NREMT certificate at the Paramedic level and have met the reading and math requirements.
Requirements
The Paramedic (AAS) program requires the following reading and math levels:

| Completion of Intermediate Reading/Writing (ENGL 0985) with a grade that will allow you to register for Composition I (ENGL 1010) or place into Composition I (ENGL 1010) | Completion of Math Fundamentals (MATH 0900 or MATH 0903) with a grade that will allow you to register for Business Math (MATH 1040) or place into Business Math (MATH 1040 or higher) |
Meet Reading & Math Requirements
If you have completed English and/or math courses at SCC, the College will have your
courses and grades on file; you will not need to submit documentation.
If you have completed English and/or math courses with a C or better at another college
or university, submit an official transcript to the Registration & Records Office.
Submit placement test scores or an official transcript
You can submit placement test scores or an official transcript showing completion of college level English and math courses
SCC accepts the ACT, SAT, and Next-Generation ACCUPLACER®. Math scores are valid for
three years and reading scores are valid for five years. Score reports can be submitted
directly to admissions@southeast.edu. Score reports must contain your full name and date of test.
If you have not yet taken the ACT, SAT, or Next-Generation ACCUPLACER® or have not
completed college-level English and math courses, contact the SCC Testing Center to
schedule a time to take the Next-Generation ACCUPLACER®.
Application Steps
Apply to the Paramedic (AAS) program within the time period noted above for your intended start date.
Meeting Reading & Math Requirements as noted. Requirements must be met in order for your application to be considered complete.
Provide documentation of Nebraska Paramedic License or National Registry for Paramedics
to healthsciences@southeast.edu.
Submit official transcripts for paramedic coursework and/or training program to SCC
Registration & Records.
If you completed the Paramedic diploma program at SCC, you do not need to submit transcripts.
Please note the following:
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed if missing requirements or all required courses are not complete.
- Applicants that are re-applying to the program must resubmit all documentation during each application period.
