NCCW Education Center Capital Campaign
With a leadership gift from the Sunshine Lady Foundation, we're constructing a dedicated SCC education center at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, and more than doubling enrollment for women.
UPWARD students at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York learn in a single basement classroom and computer lab. The space is full, the demand is growing, and the building constraints inside the facility have made every expansion a battle.
Thanks to a $182,000 capital grant from the Sunshine Lady Foundation, and an ongoing partnership with the Women's Higher Education Consortium, we are now building a dedicated SCC education center on the NCCW grounds. When complete, it will include two classrooms, a computer lab, an office, and an accessible restroom, with room to expand.
The new center will allow us to:
- More than double women's enrollment at NCCW
- Cut time-to-degree for the AA in Academic Transfer
- Expand into the Business AAS and add adjunct faculty from York University and the surrounding community
- Create capacity for new program areas as student demand grows
We have the lead gift. We are building the rest of the funding needed to fully equip and operate the center as the women of NCCW need it to function. Every gift to this campaign goes directly toward classroom infrastructure, technology, ADA accessibility features, and program expansion. Let's do more for the women of NCCW, together.
