Taking Life-Saving Images
The Radiologic Technology program prepares you for a rewarding career using advanced imaging technology to diagnose medical conditions. You will learn to operate X-ray equipment, position patients and produce quality diagnostic images while providing compassionate patient care. Our program combines hands-on clinical experience with classroom instruction, preparing you to become a skilled radiologic technologist in hospitals, clinics and specialized imaging centers. You will graduate ready to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists exam and pursue state licensure in this high-demand healthcare field.
PROGRAM GOALS
Master Radiographic Positioning and Image Analysis
You will learn precise techniques for positioning patients and creating optimal diagnostic images. Develop the analytical skills to identify anatomical structures and evaluate image quality.
Develop Science and Math Skills
Apply learned physics and math concepts to calculate accurate techniques to expose patients for optimal images.
Deliver Exceptional Patient Care
You will cultivate the interpersonal and communication skills needed to provide compassionate care. Learn how to comfort and guide patients through imaging procedures.

Our program offers two options: in-person classes and clinicals in Lincoln or an online/distance option with classes offered online and clinical opportunities outside Lincoln. Both paths teach you how to properly image the human body through clinical and radiology courses.

CAREER OUTCOMES
Radiologic Technologist
Perform diagnostic imaging examinations to help physicians diagnose injuries or diseases. Prepare patients for procedures, position them correctly for imaging, operate specialized equipment and maintain patient records.
CT Technologist
Specialize in computed tomography imaging to create detailed cross-sectional images of patients' bodies. Position patients, operate CT scanners and prepare and administer contrast materials when needed.
MRI Technologist
Operate magnetic resonance imaging scanners to create detailed images of patients' organs and tissues. Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, administer contrast agents when needed and ensure patient safety during the imaging process.

State Licensure or Certification Requirements
State Licensure or Certification Requirements
The Radiologic Technology Program is an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
(ARRT) approved educational program. The program’s curriculum meets the ARRT requirements
and a student successfully completing this program can apply to the ARRT to take the
National Board for certification. ARRT certification meets licensure requirements
in all 50 states.
State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement Institution
Southeast Community College is a State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement Institution (NC-SARA) institution. As such, SCC is unable to offer online or distance courses to students in the following areas at this time: American Samoa, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
