One plan, two campuses
On Course is SCC’s transfer advising program. You and an advisor pick your destination major up front, then each SCC course is purposely outlined because it counts toward that degree — no guessing, no repeating, no wasted semesters.
- Students indicate intended transfer institution and major of study on their New Student Enrollment Advising Inventory
- Semester-by-semester course plan built from the approved pathway. Each pathway is built to minimize any loss of credit or time toward degree.
- Advisors at both schools reviewing the same map
Approved Pathways to UNL
Each pathway is a course-by-course map from SCC associate degree into a specific UNL major.
No pathways match. Many SCC courses still transfer as elective or general education credit — talk with an advisor about your options.
These pathways aren't your only option. Many additional SCC courses transfer as elective or general education credit, so you can still earn transferable hours even if your program isn't listed above.
What “Guaranteed” Means
Four things SCC and UNL have put in writing.
Complete your associate degree with a 2.0 SCC GPA and admission to UNL is guaranteed.
No essay, no committee review.
Note: Some colleges and majors have additional admissions requirements beyond the university
admissions requirements. Pathways that have requirements beyond a 2.0 GPA will have
the additional requirements listed within the pathway document.
Each pathway is designed to maximize your credits at SCC so you complete your bachelor's degree in same amount of time as if you started at UNL.
Pathway coursework applies to major and general education requirements.
You’re eligible for UNL’s transfer scholarships.

Saving Time and Resources
This partnership gives students access to a more efficient pathway to a bachelor's degree. They can earn both their two-year and four-year degrees through a coordinated process that reduces overall costs without requiring the trade-off between affordability and timely degree completion that has often impacted students in the past.
“SCC has provided all kinds of support to help me succeed in college. The instructors are amazing, classes are great, and the students are nice. I loved it all. UNL are pioneers in business and I’m excited for the larger campus, classes that are more specific to my program of study, and increased networking opportunities.”
“Since a young age, I knew I wanted to be an educator. I chose SCC knowing I would eventually transfer. I was able to acclimate to college in a close-knit community as well as work on my academic and social skills. Growing up in Nebraska, transferring to UNL was the obvious next step for me.”
“I chose SCC because I wanted to start in a small community. I found it is a very diverse community with so many resources available to you. The advisors at SCC guide you on the right path to help make your UNL transition easier.”

Frequently asked questions
When students follow the approved pathway documents, the courses will transfer as indicated in each document. Generally, this means that by completing your associate’s degree and earning grades of C or above in individual courses, nearly all credits will be degree applicable toward your bachelor’s degree. If students transfer before finishing a degree or are not following one of the approved program pathways, the institution will apply transfer credit on a course-by-course basis. By working work with your academic advisor at SCC, you will ensure that you are taking the most appropriate courses to meet your degree objectives and ensure that your credit transfers as seamlessly as possible.
While changing your major may require adjustments to your pathway, many of the courses you have already completed may still apply to your new academic plan. To stay on track toward your goals, meet with your college advisor to discuss your new direction and determine which courses and pathway best support your plans moving forward.
Generally, financial aid and scholarships are administered independently by each institution, which means your financial aid package will not automatically transfer. Some external scholarships may be transferable, so students should check with their scholarship provider for specific requirements. Students should complete the FAFSA and any required scholarship or financial aid applications at their intended transfer institution based on the deadlines outlined within the transfer timeline.
Transferring to another institution takes time and planning. We encourage you to begin exploring transfer options as soon as you arrive at SCC by researching colleges, learning about academic programs, and understanding admission requirements. While application deadlines vary by institution, students should ideally begin taking detailed transfer planning and application steps about one year before they intend to transfer.
