The Precision Machining summer camp will provide students with two days-worth of hands-on experience running various metal cutting machines such as manual lathes and Bridgeport mills. In addition to the manual machines, students will also experience running CNC Mills and CNC lathes.
All camp participants will make this 2-1/2 LB soft face hammer made with a solid aluminum handle and stainless steel head. Campers will perform threading, turning, knurling, grooving, drilling, milling and tapping operations. Each campers makes their own hammer and it is theirs to keep at the end of camp.

Please enter thru doors W5 located on the west side of the building.
All students must wear full length pants and a full shirt with short or long sleeves. No cut off shirts allowed. Shoes or boots must be closed toed. No form of sandals, Crocs or open mesh style shoes allowed. Refrain from wearing any rings on your fingers or any sort of jewelry that could get caught in moving parts. Safety glasses will be provided by SCC, however if you already own a pair of glasses, you are free to bring your own.
SCC will be providing food both days. If you have any specific food allergies and would like to bring your own meals, that is fine. Please let us know you intend to do so when you sign up.
Machine Shop Tour
Upon conclusion of Day 1’s machining activities, we will tour a local manufacturing facility to see machine tools in action. Get a chance to see what shop life is like. We will also tour the Speedway Museum of American Speed.
