    Graduate Check-in begins at 6 p.m.

    GRADUATION APPLICATIONS

    All graduates are required to complete the graduation application. Applications are due by the 10th day of the term in which you plan to graduate. You will need to complete a separate application for each degree you are applying for.

    CAPS AND GOWNS

    All graduates are required to wear academic caps and gowns during the ceremony. Tassels should remain on the right side of the caps until all degrees have been conferred and you are directed to move your tassel.

    Caps and gowns will be available for pick up in the Campus Store on your home campus beginning Monday, Dec. 9. The cap, gown and tassel are the student's to keep. If you receive an honor or veterans cord at check in, these are also yours to keep after the ceremony.

    GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Announcements are available in the Campus store for purchase.

    COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

    Commencement is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Enter through the Graduates Only entrance on the southeast corner of the arena. Report to the graduate check-in area on the ground level beginning at 6 p.m. and no later than 6:30 p.m. (see picture of entrances on last page)

    Pinnacle Bank Arena is a CLEAR BAG POLICY venue. CLEAR BAGS and small clutch-sized purses are only allowed at entry. To view clear bag policy, visit http://bit.ly/lincolnclearbagpolicy.

    Graduates will not be allowed to carry items into the ceremony. There also will be no secure room for purses, coats, etc. Please leave your personal items with friends or family.

    When you check in before the ceremony you will receive a name card with your name and chair number. Do not lose this card, you will be required to present this card to the reader during the ceremony.

    Graduates are required to remain at the entire ceremony, which will conclude at approximately 8:00 p.m.

    FAMILY AND GUESTS

    Pinnacle Bank Arena is located at: 400 Pinnacle Arena Drive Lincoln, NE 68508 (Driving Directions)

    Family, friends and other guest are invited and may sit in any non-reserved area, other than the main floor, which is reserved for the graduates. No tickets are required to attend the graduation.

    Accessible seating for guests is available on the main concourse level of the Pinnacle Bank Arena. The arena drop off area is located on the south side of Pinnacle Bank Arena (R Street).

    Free parking is available in the Festival Parking Lot, just north of the arena and in the Pinnacle Bank Arena Garage. Access to the north parking areas is from Sun Valley Blvd. to Line Drive. Follow Line Drive to the parking area. A pedestrian bridge connects the north parking area (Festival Space) to the arena. (see map)

    Paid parking is available in the city of Lincoln Public Parking Garages. (see map)

    DIPLOMAS

    Each graduate will receive an empty diploma cover at the ceremony. If all grades have been submitted and you have no financial obligation to the College, your diploma will be mailed within two weeks after graduation. Students will be ushered to the stage alphabetically by program of study.

    Financial obligations to the College must be satisfied before your diploma will be released. Please contact Student Accounts at 402-437-2669 for questions concerning your account.

    Graduates who chose not to participate in the commencement ceremony will receive their diploma by mail within 2 weeks after the end of the term. Diplomas will be mailed to the address on the graduation application. If you have an address change, please email the Associate Registrar on your campus by Dec. 19.

    Stoles for PTK members will not be available the day of graduation.

    Students graduating with distinction or high distinction will be provided an honor cord when they check in for the ceremony.

    VETERANS/ACTIVE MILITARY

    Our graduates who are veterans or active military will receive a red, white & blue honor cord to be worn during the commencement ceremony. These cords can be picked up at graduation check in before the ceremony that evening.

    ACCOMMODATIONS

    Graduates who need accommodations, please contact lvancura@southeast.edu or 402-437-2604 by Nov.26 or before, to allow time to establish reasonable accommodations with the venue.

    CHANGE IN PLANS

    Please contact the Associate Registrar on your campus as soon as you determine you are unable to complete your academic requirements for graduation or if you have changed your plans to attend the commencement ceremony.

    2019 Fall Graduation

    Welsh Center

    Congratulations on your achievement! The College is proud of your accomplishments and we want the graduation ceremony to be one you and your family will remember. Your degree will be mailed to the address listed on the graduation application unless you have a financial obligation to the College. If you have questions regarding these areas, contact the Business Office. The College reserves the right to exclude graduates from participation in the ceremony for inappropriate behavior.

    NOTE: If special accommodations are needed, contact the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible.

    Graduation Fee

    All students who have applied for graduation are required to pay a $35 non-refundable graduation fee when you turn in the form. If you have an outstanding bill with the college, you will not receive your degree. Contact the Business Office at 402-761-8230 if you have questions.

    Annoucements

    Announcements are available for purchase at the SCC Bookstore.

    Caps and Gowns

    Caps and gowns can be ordered at the Campus Store. Gowns are shipped folded and it is recommended that you try them on and hang up as soon as you receive them. If your gown is the wrong size for you, stop by the Campus Store and they will find one that fits. You may keep your cap, gown and tassel. Students graduating with distinction and high distinction will be provided an honor cord when they line up for the ceremony. Graduates who are veterans or active military will receive a red, white & blue honor cord to be worn during the commencement ceremony.

    Line Up

    Meet in the Game Room on the 2nd floor of the Welsh Center no later than 6:15. Be in your cap and gown and line up alphabetically, by program, no later than 6:20. The east line will enter the gym floor from the south door and the west line will enter the gym from the north door.

    When the processional starts, north and south leaders will meet and walk down the center aisle behind the instructors. The north line files into the first full row of chairs on he north side. The south line files into the first full row of chairs on the south side. Please walk to the far end of the row and fill all seats. Do not leave any seats vacant. Graduates will wear the graduation caps during the commencement address.

    The Ceremony

    Graduates will be called to the stage by programs. All will wear caps, tassel to the RIGHT SIDE of the cap. Accept the degree with the left hand; shake right hands with the board member presenting your degree. Proceed to the north side of the stage and stand as a group until everyone from your class has received their degree. If your program is large, make two or three lines on the north side of the stage. If you qualify for graduate with distinction or graduate with high distinction, you will receive your certificate right after your receive your degree from the board member. Leave the stage as a group and return to your seat on the gym floor. When all of the graduates have returned to the chairs, sit down as a group.

    The Recessional

    At the conclusion of the ceremony, as the music begins, the instructors will stand and lead the recessional. Row one will begin to walk down the center aisle to the back of the gym followed by rows 2, 3, 4, etc.

    Guests

    The gym will be open at 5:30 p.m. for your guests. If you have a guest who needs assistance, a wheelchair accessible entrance is available at the east entrance of the Welsh.
