Health Insurance

We offer Benefit Dollars (Ben Dollars) for qualified employees to cover the cost of the following:
  • Medical Insurance

SCC Ben Dollars 

Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee's paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).

Life Insurance

A minimum of $50,000 in life insurance coverage and $50,000 in accidental death and dismemberment coverage is available for eligible employees. 

Long Term Disability Insurance

Long term disability insurance is available for eligible employees. 

Retirement Plan

A group retirement plan through TIAA is available to eligible employees, and the College contributes an amount equal to the employee's contribution, up to 9%. Eligible employees age 30 and above are required to participate.  Additionally, TIAA offers Tax Sheltered Annuities.

Social Security

Employees are covered by the Federal Social Security Plan. The College withholds from employee wages the amount equal to the Federal Social Security Plan requirement for that year, and the College provides an equivalent amount.

Tuition Waiver for SCC Courses

The College offers 100% tuition remission for eligible employees, their spouses, and eligible tax dependents for SCC credit and non-credit courses. 

Tuition Reimbursement

Eligible employees shall have the opportunity to receive tuition reimbursement for undergraduate, graduate, or advanced degree credit courses with supervisor approval. See terms in College policies or negotiated agreements.

Worker's Compensation

All employees are covered by insurance for expenses involved with an on-the-job accident.
