    Program Description

    If you strive to serve others in non-commercial organizations such as hospitals, schools, long-term care and corrections facilities, our Dietary Manager program is the perfect fit for you. Our program is offered online and can be completed in as little as one semester. We have designed the program to prepare you for management of Food and Nutrition Services departments.

    Our Dietary Manager program prepares you for a rewarding career in food-service operations. You will be a successful Dietary Manager if you:

    • are detail oriented and able to work with a variety of people
    • can communicate effectively (both oral and written)
    • possess the ability to multitask efficiently
    • thrive in high stress environments
    • are passionate about serving others

    You can start the Dietary Manager program in Fall, Spring or summer terms. Follow these steps to finish your application:

    1. Complete an application for admission.
    2. Submit official high school transcripts, GED® scores, and/or other college transcripts.
    3. Check with an advisor to determine if you need to take the COMPASS assessment test. This requirement may be waived if you have a sufficiently high and recent ACT scores or have successfully completed necessary college-level prerequisite courses.
    4. You must complete the regular SCC admission requirements and prerequisite courses with a “C” or higher to continue in the Culinary/Hospitality program.

    Special Program Requirement:

    • A grade of “C” or higher is required for all Dietary Manager courses to graduate from the program.

    Graduates of this program are eligible for active membership to ANFP and meet education requirements for eligibility to sit for the Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM®, CFPP®) Credentialing Exam. The CDM®, CFPP® credential meets the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations requirement for directors of food and nutrition services at Long-Term Care Facilities.
