NurseTim®This program, provided by NurseTim®, will provide educators with strategies to compare competency-based education to traditional learning, develop competency-based processes for implementation and evaluation and improve student learning. The benefits of competency-based education will be discussed.

Speaker: Dr. Virginia "Ginny" Wangerin, PhD, RN, CNE, is an educator, consultant, and speaker with more than 40 years of experience in nursing. She has taught at the ADN, BSN and graduate level, and most recently developed and implemented the first nursing program at Iowa State University. Dr. Wangerin is recognized as a lifelong leader and nursing advocate, serving on numerous committees and boards, advocating for the profession and at-risk populations. As a nurse education leader, she has developed and implemented concurrent enrollment programs and concept-based curriculum. Dr. Wangerin is a consultant and speaker for accreditation, curriculum development, learning strategies and outcomes assessment.

The Trauma Nursing Core Course, developed by the Emergency Nurses Association, is designed for registered nurses who have at least six months of clinical nursing experience in an emergency care setting. Other health care professionals may audit the course. Trauma nursing, as a discipline, refers to the process and content of the various roles nurses have in the care of the trauma patient. The purpose of TNCC is to present knowledge, refine skills and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing. The Trauma Nursing Core Course consists of a combination of lecture time and skills stations.

Course Director: Jodi DeWitt, RN, MSN, has more than 25 years of experience as a nurse. Jodi has worked at various critical care area hospitals and emergency rooms in Nebraska. She is a member of the Emergency Room Nurses Association. She is a certified instructor for TNCC.

Nebraska Sleep ConferenceCSTE program application has been submitted for approval by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Participants must attend the entire workshop to receive credit.

The Nebraska Sleep Conference will provide continuing education for Sleep Technologists and others interested in the diagnosis, management and treatment of sleep disorders. Continuing education credits will be specifically approved for those needing to maintain the RPSGT credential. Continuing education credits also can be submitted for maintaining Nebraska Respiratory Therapist licenses, as well as maintaining the credentials through the NBRC.

Live Online

This interactive course provides a broad overview of the historical and cultural aspects of infant feeding, while reviewing best breastfeeding practices.

Presented in a small group, live online Zoom setting, the content focuses on breastfeeding from a psychosocial and a scientific perspective.

Teacher: Ann Seacrest, RN, IBCLC brings 35 years of experience as a clinical IBCLC, hospital-based postpartum and lactation nurse, certified ASPO childbirth educator, certified DONA doula and doula teacher, and co-founder and past Executive Director of MilkWorks.

This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This course on protecting your license through patient advocacy is designed to empower nurses to improve patient safety. The course content consists of lawsuit basics, legal risks, documentation standards and cases studies, and how to engage on difficult conversations.

IV bagTarget Audience: Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses

Description: This 8-hour, self-paced course is applicable to RNs and LPNs. This course provides a review of IV therapy and meets the didactic portion of the requirement for LPNs. Access to a computer and the internet are required for participation. Instructions for accessing the course will be emailed to registrants.

Certificates of completion will be accessible after successful course completion is confirmed.

This activity has been submitted to the Midwest Multistate Division for approval to award contact hours. The Midwest Multistate Division is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This course is designed to meet the structured education required by the ARRT for radiologic technologists seeking post-primary certification in vascular-interventional radiography.

You will be introduced to:

  • Principles of vascular-interventional radiography, patient care management and interactions
  • Usage of medications and contrast media
  • Human anatomy and physiology

An overview of equipment and supplies; procedures and exposure technique; image production and quality; asepsis and sterile technique; and safety issues are presented.

This course focuses on the training requirements for the Administrator in Training (AIT)/mentoring program as required for becoming a licensed Nursing Home Administrator (NHA). The class will assist you with AIT placement on-site with a certified preceptor and provide support through the licensure requirements as you prepare and learn the nursing home administrator career.

You will be able to:

  • Interpret the AIT process by starting and submitting a respective state licensing board/jurisdiction application for approvalCalculate and submit AIT hours (For example, 640 hours for NE) as required for the licensure process
  • Identify the current level of knowledge of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrators Boards (NAB) Domain of Practices through a self-assessment
  • Apply leadership skills and analyze the importance of multidisciplinary team planning and communications.
  • Summarize knowledge, skills, and abilities of experiences gained through the AIT.
  • Examine resources provided to you through the class and the training site.
  • Prepare and practice for the NAB exam.
