Technical Skills Instructor

    Program Description

    Our Technical Skills Instructor program is designed specifically for you if you wish to combine industry training to teach Skills and Technical Sciences in Nebraska secondary schools. This program is a partnership between Southeast Community College and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln which builds on the strengths of each educational institution.

    You’ll be able to personalize your degree by focusing on one of these areas:

    • Architecture and Construction
    • Manufacturing
    • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
    • Transportation, Distribution, and Logist

    You will be successful in our Technical Skills Instructor program if you:

    • have good verbal and written communication skills
    • are detail oriented and organized
    • use critical thinking skills to solve problems
    • enjoy teaching others new skills
    • are a patient person
    • use creative methods to get your point across
    • are an expert in the area you teach

    3. Ready to apply? Complete an Application for Admission.
    4. Submit ACT, SAT, Next Generation Accuplacer, or Accuplacer test scores (reading and math) or official college transcripts showing completion of post-secondary coursework in English and math to the Admissions Office at any SCC location.

    If you want to teach industry training, skills and technical science to future generations of high school students, our Technical Skills Instructor program is perfect for you. As a new program at SCC, we do not have salary data available at this time. Career options include:

    • Secondary Engineering & Technology Instructor
    • Skilled & Technical Sciences/Ag Teache
    Our Technical Skills Instructor program is a partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication. Completion of the 60 credit hour requirement from SCC and the 60 credit-hour Teaching Option requirement at UNL will allow you to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural education from UNL.
