Josh Floyd is a true example of how it’s never too late to go back to school. At age 42, he recently graduated from Southeast Community College’s Lincoln Campus with an associate degree in Business.

For SCC history instructor Scott Stempson, sports isn’t just his passion, it’s a way of life. He grew up playing many sports, and now he teaches it and other history classes at Southeast Community College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

First responders, a helicopter and safety demonstrations will be on display Monday, Sept. 12, from 4-6 p.m. at Southeast Community College’s Beatrice Campus, south of the Kennedy Student Center. The event is held each year to bring safety awareness to students, faculty and staff.

When Kevan Hueftle lost his foot in a 2005 hunting accident, he went through a lot of challenges, including depression, alcoholism and weight gain. But eventually, those challenges were what he needed to get to where he’s at today.

Devin and Jenny Schroeder met while working at a Lincoln restaurant. They discovered they had a mutual love of the restaurant industry and were both graduates of Southeast Community College’s Culinary/Hospitality program more than a decade ago.

Students attending Nebraska community colleges can add Western Governors University to the list of potential transfer schools after an agreement was signed Aug. 30.
